Quick Recap – November 17, 2015

Here’s the recap of the second semifinal from the 2015 tournament of Champions. I’m actually writing most of this post on layover on my way home from watching the game last night in Malden, MA, with many awesome people (whom I will attempt to enumerate later!) I have to say, though, last night was pretty epic. Pictures are forthcoming once I get back home! But for now, the recap!

Today’s contestants:
Alex Jacob
Brennan Bushee
Vaughn Winchell

Unfortunately for the Vaughntourage and the Brennan Bushee fans in attendance, this game was all Alex. Vaughn missed the first Daily Double (BIBLE BOOKS $400: The 2 lofty positions that lend their names to Old Testament books — “Judge and King”) after getting hung up on the word “lofty”, thinking mountains. Brennan didn’t even get in first on the buzzer until the 42nd clue of the game! (His first $1,600 was on a rebound, his second was on the Daily Double he found immediately thereafter). I guess this is what getting Ruttered is like?

Scores going into Final Jeopardy!:
Alex $28,200
Brennan $11,600
Vaughn $8,000

Final Jeopardy! category: AFRICAN COUNTRIES

Final Jeopardy! clue: These 2 6-letter rhyming countries both derive their names from rivers & were both once controlled by Great Britain

Vaughn 8000 – 8000 = 0
Brennan 11600 – 6000 = 5600
Alex 28200 – 0 = 28200

Alex, in one of the game’s all-time great moments, gave “What is ALEVE” as his response to Final Jeopardy! Our party went nuts after he did that!

Pictures from the viewing party will be coming soon!
