I was looking at some of the results of the NAQT Sectionals over the weekend, and I realized that I may have underrated Ziad slightly! It would not surprise me to see him do very well in this semifinal. That said, Kate found her game in Double Jeopardy of the quarterfinal. It was hinted on the last #JeopardyLivePanel that this game would be better than the “three wildcards” might imply; were they right? On with the show!

||Sarah Dubnik, a senior at the University of Pittsburgh from Jamison, PA
||Ziad Ali, a freshman at North Carolina State University from Oak Ridge, NC
Scores going into Final Jeopardy:
Final Jeopardy! category: CHILDREN’S AUTHORS
Final Jeopardy! clue: At 24 he began a verse retelling of the Cupid & Psyche myth, including a character named Caspian
Who is C. S. Lewis?
Kate 7000 + 7000 = 14000
Ziad 17800 + 401 = 18201
Sarah 18200 + 17401 = 35601
(My thoughts when reading this clue: “What the heck, who on earth, OH CASPIAN that was easy”); Caspian obviously being a title prince of one of Lewis’ major works.
Meanwhile, maybe my original assessment was quite on point; the finals are going to have Niki, Sarah, and Sam!
