Scores going into Final Jeopardy:
Soumia $12,600
Rachel $12,600
Ted $10,000

Final Jeopardy! category: AMERICAN HISTORY

Final Jeopardy! clue: In the 1690s its legislature referred to this place as “His Majesty’s Ancient Colony and Dominion”

What is Virginia?

Ted 10000 – 2615 = 7385 (Massachusetts)
Rachel 12600 + 12599 = 25199 (3-day total: $42,699)
Soumia 12600 – 12600 = 0 (Jamestown)

This Final is probably significantly easier for an American to get than a Canadian. (For the record: I said Georgia because I didn’t feel like picking a Carolina. Which, in hindsight, seems to me a pretty terrible guess. Being that Georgia apparently wasn’t even founded until 1733.)

Meanwhile: Rachel is the first person to misread what to do in a tie game since the triple-zero game in January. I am very disappointed with her choice of bet.

  1. I’m gonna echo with what you said, because I probably misinterpretted the clue because it said about a “place”, and not as much a U.S. state.

What baffled me on this game especially, was with the choice of bet Rachel did. This was a coin toss for her. She went all-but-one on this one and she didn’t even notice that if she used less restraint on her bet, she would have saved herself at least keeping some money had she covered Ted’s total. Plus too, if Soumia “did” get her answer right as well, she would have won by $1. On the other side, had she got her answer wrong, she would have lost to Ted completely.

I have a feeling that Rachel’s luck will probably run out soon. She’ll be starting to crack under pressure once Friday comes around, I can imagine.

  2. What did Alex mean with his comment to Soumia about being at a disadvatange because she’s Canadian???

My guess is that he thought that a Canadian would have a tougher time on an American history question.

  3. What was the question on this night…March 3, 2016 that involved a black/white picture of a tree ? I think the tree had silhouettes of animals?
