The island of Phuket was one of the hardest hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, as the western coast of Thailand is located just over 300 miles from the earthquake’s epicentre. It took just two hours to reach the island, striking the island’s west coast, flooding, and causing major damage to most of the island’s beaches.

Things were more severe in other islands like Khao Lak, as Phuket may have been aided by a number of high-rise hotels, owing to its being a tourist hotbed.

  2. I am looking for a wording of an answer that begin with ‘Mucho’. I am interested in it for a linguistics class I am taking and I didn’t tape the episode. Do you have that information? Thanks!

    • Yes! It was IT’S A PROCESS $400: Mucho methane is released from this process of injecting high-pressure fluid into underground rock to free gas & oil (What is fracking?)
