GameRecap

Andy here with another recap!

Today, our players: Shannon Gillard, Jeremy Johnson, and Dava-Leigh Brush! Jeremy did what Alex called a “smooth move” looking into the camera!

Dava-Leigh seems surprised at having won $11,501!

J! round categories:
WHAT’S ON CABLE?
BIOGRAPHY
“T.V.” LAND
SPIKE
ANIMAL PLANET
BRAVO

Dava-Leigh liked “T.V.” LAND and found the Daily Double there under the $800 slot! Scores:

Dava-Leigh $600
Shannon $400
Jeremy $0

Dava-Leigh bet $1,000. Her clue: This part of speech requires an object. She gave a correct response, moving to $1,600. She seemed relieved to get it, admitting she once taught English!

At the first break, the scores were:
Dava-Leigh $3,400
Shannon $2,600
Jeremy $0

Jeremy had a few negs keeping his score down! It almost seemed as though he thought questions were harder than they were!

Shannon took part in a large scavenger hunt last year. Jeremy works at the same bakery he worked at when he was 18 (though he spent 9.5 intervening years in the Marines).

I don’t know what disappointed me more about this Triple Stumper (ANIMAL PLANET $800: The Banff Springs Snail: this country) — the fact that nobody got it, or the fact that there were two guesses of “Wales” and “Australia”! Sigh.

Scores after the J! round:
Dava-Leigh $5,400
Shannon $5,000
Jeremy $2,400

(One clue went unplayed.)

DJ! round categories:
AMERICAN HISTORY
“I” LOVE SCIENCE
DRAWING A CROWD
RELIGION
1950s BESTSELLERS
PREFIXES & ROOTS

Jeremy did quite well in Science to jump into the lead! However — surprise, surprise! — AMERICAN HISTORY $1600 had a Daily Double!

Shannon played it, with scores at:
Jeremy $8,000
Shannon $6,200
Dava-Leigh $5,800

Shannon bet $3,000. Her clue: This 1820 agreement said there would be no slavery in the bulk of the Louisiana Territory north of latitude 36°30′. Her correct response put her at $9,200!

DRAWING A CROWD $800 had the final Daily Double! Dava-Leigh played it with scores as follows, after the minute-to-go signal:

Dava-Leigh $17,800
Shannon $8,000
Jeremy $5,600

(Me: I’d bet $700 here, then go to the $1200 clue if there’s time.)

Dava-Leigh bet $2,200! A bit rich for my tastes in this position! Her clue: Attendance was still down some 20%, but 800,000 revelers jammed the streets of this U.S. city in February 2007. She gave a correct response, putting her score at $20,000!

Scores going into Final:
Dava-Leigh $20,000
Shannon $9,200
Jeremy $5,600

FJ! category: 1980s MOVIES:

FJ! clue: At his term’s end, Ronald Reagan took an office in an L.A. high-rise, still a mess from the filming of this 1988 thriller

Jeremy 5600 + 5000 = 10600
Shannon 9200 – 9200 = 0
Dava-Leigh 20000 + 0 = 20000

So the writing isn’t on the wall, and Dava-Leigh is now a 3-time champ! Will she win 4? Tune in tomorrow and find out!
