Here’s tonight’s Final Jeopardy for Wednesday, October 12, 2016:

Final Jeopardy! category: STATE SONGS

Final Jeopardy! clue: The first line of its state song, “Eight stars of gold on a field of blue”, refers to the star group on its flag

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Susan Cole, a legislative librarian from Bowie, Maryland

wk5_1010_1014_cole_lineup

Russ Williams, a retired Army officer from Alexandria, Virginia

wk5_1010_1014_williams_lineup

Pidge Meade, a technical writer and actress from Pacifica, California (2-day total: $31,001)

wk5_1010_1014_meade_lineup

What is Alaska?

In case you missed Monday’s game, Pidge’s interview that day was about how she got her name: Pidge’s mother asked her local bridge-playing friends for naming advice, all of whom wanted Pidge named after them. So, Pidge’s mother took the first initial of everyone’s name and turned into an acronym for her name!

Results will go up on the main page late afternoon, with full stats early evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of the main page.

Here, of course, is Alaska’s flag:

The Alaska state website has the full lyrics, and sheet music, to the state song.
