Andy here!
Today’s players: Ann Conger, Sam Sukaton, and David Greisman!
David should be joining our panel this weekend, but will he be the first person since Ryan Alley to win twice? There have been 9 straight one-day champions!
J! round categories:
THE BIBLE
NUMBERS
JUDGES
CHRONICLES
DANIEL
“REV”-ELATION
Sam and Ann seemed to want to take categories out of order; David seemed very much to be an “in order” guy! After 15, the scores were:
Ann $3,600
Sam $2,000
David $2,000
Ann worked in a game preserve in South Africa! Sam’s grandmother was an Indonesian ambassador to Romania! David was on his birthright trip to Israel when he was bar mitzvah’d at the age of 26! That seems to be a question I’ll ask on the panel! If you have any questions about this week’s episodes for the panel, let us know!
Back to the game, all of the hopping around didn’t work out that well, as CHRONICLES $400 had the Daily Double! Sam finally got to play it; the scores were:
Ann $4,400
David $3,400
Sam $3,000
Sam bet $1,000. His clue: On Sept. 13, 1864 this writer noted the completion of illustrations for a book he wrote for young Alice Liddell. I feel as though Sam lost an opportunity here; his correct response put him at $4,000!
After 30, the scores were:
Sam $5,000
Ann $4,800
David $4,000
DJ! round categories:
SCIENCE MYSTERIES
20TH CENTURY HISTORY
SLEEP
U.K. BODIES OF WATER
NO. 1 ALBUMS OF THE ’60S
THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE
Having just run a Titanic category at trivia helped with the following Triple Stumper for me (HISTORY 1600: By 9 A.M. on April 15, 1912, this ship had rescued about 705 survivors of the Titanic disaster)
HISTORY $2000 had the Daily Double. David played this one, with scores at:
Ann $6,400
David $5,200
Sam $4,200
David bet $1,000. His clue: Clement Attlee succeeded Churchill in the middle of the 1945 conference of Allied leaders held in this German city. David said Frankfurt and fell to $4,200.
Sam and Ann kept battling back and forth for the lead, but David got to the final Daily Double! There was a $2,000 clue left on the board when David found it at UK BODIES OF WATER $1600! Scores (after some corrections):
Ann $12,000
Sam $9,000
David $8,600
David should bet $5,401 or more. He chose to bet $5. His video clue: British history books include the story of King John losing the crown jewels in “the wash”, a shallow bay on this sea. His correct response put him at $8,605.
Scores going into Final:
Ann $12,000
Sam $9,000
David $8,605
FJ! category: ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY
FJ! clue: The remains for Arlington’s first monument to unknown soldiers mostly came from this battlefield 30 miles away
David 8605 +2500 = 11105
Sam 9000 – 7000 = 2000
Ann 12000 + 1999 = 13999
And we have a new champion for the 10th game in a row! Ann will be back after Kids Week to defend her title!
