Pranjal actually wrote “Who is the girl with THE pearl earring?” (emphasis added) but was ruled correct. Is there any argument, based on translation from the Dutch, for “the” to be correct? Fortunately, it didn’t affect the outcome of this game, thanks to another dominating performance by Pranjal.
In my research earlier I found both used. I used “A” because that’s what Wikipedia uses, but because it’s from Dutch, I’d say both could be used interchangeably.
