I hope you liked our Hangout yesterday. I’d like your feedback if you have a minute. Colby must be satisfied because he’s coming to our next one, also at 5:30 Central on Monday. Arthur Chu will also be there!
So yesterday Christine Kim made a strong first impression. Trebek called it a “marvelous debut” today! What does she do next?
Brian Quinn
(He eventually reminded me of Bill MacDonald!)
Christine Kim
Jennifer Hindert
How does one retire from homemaking? Hey, Trebek asked her about this! After I titled this post and everything. Christine looked relieved when that interview was done.
Even after Trebek revealed the response to this triple-stumper in Discoveries in the Sciences, I’m not sure how the contestants were supposed to respond, but I’d have gotten all the necessary parts: “A dress bottom inside the study of the elements.” Not sure how they could miss this one much later in the same category: “An involuntary movement inside the science of data collection & analysis.”
The scores weren’t shown at the first break! Geez, Trebek!
Christine 3800 (7 right)
Jennifer 1800 (3 right)
Brian 2600 (4 right)
Brian found the Daily Double of the round in The City of….
Christine 3800
Jennifer 1800
Brian 3400 (2 right)
He wagered 1500 on this clue: “Gaudi.” He got it!
Hey, we saw every clue this round!
Christine 4600 (2 right)
Jennifer 2000 (One right)
Brian 8300 (5 right and 2 wrong)
Yesterday I thought Christine was a beast on the buzzer. As of the first Daily Double in Double Jeopardy, she made us question it.
Christine 6600 (4 right and one wrong)
Jennifer 4000 (One right)
Brian 16700 (10 right and one wrong)
This was Brian’s to play in New York Times Bestsellers Lists. Here is the clue, on which he wagered 700: “In 2014, 20 years after it was published, this book about the origins of Ebola was back on the nonfiction list.” He was right! Christine found the next Daily Double though, in .
Christine 7000 (One right and one wrong)
Jennifer 3200 (One right and one wrong)
Brian 21000 (2 right)
We’d already been given the less-than-a-minute warning, and there were 3 clues on the board after this. She wagered everything on this: “Perhaps you’d like to add to your collection the vases and clock in iconic light blue jasper from this company.”
She was right! This was the last clue of the round.
The Final Jeopardy category was Best Actor Oscars. Fun! This was the clue: “1 of 2 performers to win 2 Best Actor Oscars for films that won Best Picture.” Jennifer was wrong, and she lost everything. Christine was wrong. 🙁 But she didn’t lose anything! Brian? He was wrong too! And the contestants all had different responses. Brian’s wager? 7001. Yep, Christine wins by a dollar. Wow. Trebek said he loved it!
Sorry I didn’t track my Coryat again today, but I’d like to do that again soon. 😛
