No, not on finals. (I wish!) I’m 5/5 on nights this week I’ve blogged. This one should be interesting – When I watched this episode the first time through I had no idea I’d be blogging it. But last week Andy did most of them and next week I can barely do any.
Mr. Trebek noted, like I kind of did yesterday, the number of 1- and 2-time winners we’ve had recently. Woody Bell won for the first time yesterday.

Evan was able to ring in first on the first 4 clues, though one wound up being a neg. His reaction to the correct response on this one in The Movie is Complimentary, plus the fact that he’s a librarian, makes me wonder if he’s read the book: “1972: ‘He got a real pretty mouth, ain’t he?'” I checked it out of the library once but didn’t read it.
Speaking of negs, I was surprised Tiffany’s response wasn’t ruled a neg eventually because she gave a correct response after Mr. Trebek ruled her first one wrong, on this one in Languages by Any Other Name: “Nederlands.” At the first break:

Mr. Trebek said that when Tiffany was introduced as abstract painter, he noticed her shirt (so did I), and wondered if she made it. She didn’t.
Were the contestants “too young” to know this response, in 60 Years of : “Diana Pierce anchors the news on KARE in this city a lot better than Ted Baxter did on fictional WJM.” Woody and Evan negged on it! When Tiffany got it right, she got the next clue in the same category, the Daily Double!

I don’t know about you but I can never remember whether KISS or the correct response sings this one in Their First Top 40 Pop Hit: “‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ (1980).” I clammed on it.
Mr. Trebek said this was a “big scandal,” but I don’t know what he’s referring to on this one in Silver: “Kenny Davis of the 1972 U.S. Olympic team in this sport forbade his heirs from ever accepting a silver medal.” Maybe I should look at the Olympic Fanatic like I did when I wrote up George Eyser.
Evan found the next Daily Double in A Case of Writer’s Block.

He wagered 2800 on this clue: “A big-time block (& maybe a lot of partying) delayed ‘Answered Prayers’ by this ‘non-fiction novelist.'” That last piece of TOM did it for me. Evan didn’t get this.
I thought this was the worst Before & After clue I’d ever seen: “Egyptian queen’s obelisk that should be pretty easy to locate in that big clump of dried grass.”
Mr. Trebek gave the less-than-a-minute warning with 6 clues left. Two clues were left covered. Unfortunately for Woody he lost 2000 on the last clue.

The Final Jeopardy category was Health & Medicine 2013. Naturally I felt pretty good about this one. Here’s the clue: “There’s news of the first lab test for this 10-letter condition the NIH calls the leading cause of disability for Americans 15 to 44.” I went with “concussion” in desperation. This was a triple-stumper! Evan lost all but a dollar, and so did Woody! Tiffany lost 4801, but it’s okay. She’ll be back!
I like Tiffany’s hair and her always-smiling face. I look forward to seeing her play again, though next week is busy and it won’t be Monday for me.
