I hated what Harlequin Romance Novel Titles 2014 turned out to be. They all had to be wild guesses! Gemma found the Daily Double there. There was one clue on the board after this.

Gemma had forgotten the category earlier, so I hoped she wouldn’t do it this time. She wagered 2000 on this clue: “In this 1933 Erskine Caldwell novel, a character sets aside a small piece of land, the income of which is to go to the church.” She and I didn’t know it, but she gamely took a guess.
How was this a triple-stumper in Paper or Plastic?: “This song by Robin Thicke says, ‘You don’t need no papers’ & ‘You’re far from plastic’.”
I got this triple-stumper in 17-Letter Words, and yes, before anyone negged on it: “It’s having a business meeting in 2 or more locations at once, linked by ‘v’isual technology.” My thought when I got this triple-stumper in the same category was, these guys haven’t been in college for a while: “UC Berkeley students range across areas of learning with the major called ISF, this kind of ‘studies field.'”
I also got this triple-stumper in Bodies of Water, a shocker: “Ports on this reef-filled sea include Brisbane, Australia & Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.” Britt then found the Daily Double there.

Mr. Trebek had already given the less-than-a-minute warning, and he warned Britt again. Britt wagered on this clue: “To control floods, the Venetian republic built dikes on this, the major river of the republic.” He got it right! I thought this would be the last clue, but it wasn’t.
I got this triple-stumper in During the Reign of Queen Elizabeth I, also unlike me: “In 1579, during their round-the-world voyage, this man & his crew landed in California & called it New Albion.” This was the last clue of the round.

The Final Jeopardy category was 2014 Events. This was the clue: “To prepare venues hosting this event, 12 billion perennial ryegrass seeds were imported from Manitoba, 5,000 miles away.” Gemma was wrong and lost everything. Dave-Leigh was right! She added 4201. Britt was wrong, so he loses. He wagered 1601. So we’ll see Dava-Leigh again tomorrow!
Now we’ll never know how tall Britt is, unless I can find him for a Hangout. My Coryat today was 24400 (25000 without a neg). Let me hurry up and publish this before the wifi fails again!
