Why was T.C.L.T. “Twentieth Century Literary Titles”?
I don’t know how I swept TV Bars & Saloons, but I did. I’ve only seen 2 of those shows. One that I haven’t seen was featured in this triple-stumper: “A New Jersey strip club called Satin Dolls served as this club on ‘The Sopranos.'” Is there really something on the show called “The Boom Boom Club”? That’s what Rachel said.
Did anyone else say “waterboarding” on this one in Carry “Water”?: “This phrase has been applied to sadistic dripping & to Houdini’s escape act from a water tank.”

I had both McCarthyism and Political Books to play with for blog post titles, but I let them pass. I figured I can’t do something political there every day, but I wound up using the final clue anyway. The opportunity doesn’t come up every day, either! I went 3/5 in the latter with one neg and 1/5 in the former, with 2 negs! The two I didn’t get in Political Books were triple-stumpers. Woody found a Daily Double in Political Books.

Woody wagered 3200 on this clue: “‘Nerve Center’ is Michael Bohn’s history of this ‘room,’ the White House crisis management center that he once ran.” Woody and I got this right.
I first knew this word when Andy used it. In New to the Oxford Dictionaries: “‘A photograph that one has taken of oneself…with a smartphone…& uploaded to a social media website.'” My dad learned this word last week and seems enamored of it. By the way, did it sound like Woody was saying “Crossword Dictionaries”?
Rachel found the next Daily Double in You’re an Animal. Mr. Trebek said then there was about a minute left. There were a lot of clues left, too!

Rachel wagered 2800 on this clue: “In 1925 Australia sent the San Diego Zoo Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, its first pair of these.” Rachel and I had it wrong. Rachel negged on the next clue and Woody picked it up, but then he negged on the next clue and no one picked it up. Woody then got the next clue right, and it was the last one we saw. Three clues in Santa Fe were left covered.

The Final Jeopardy category was 21st Century Novels. This is the clue: “In a letter to the author, President Obama called this ‘a lovely book — an elegant proof of God, and the power of storytelling.” I thought and thought, and would’ve never gotten it. None of the contestants did either. Meredith lost everything, Rachel lost 8200, and Woody lost 4201. You could see him smile immediately when he saw Rachel’s wager. So he is the new champ!
My Coryat today was 14800 (19000 without negs). It would’ve been 3000 higher if I’d pulled the trigger when I should have on a couple of bottom row clues.
