So you know I love to update the ToC list. I hope I get to do it today for Jason Idalski, who won his second episode yesterday.
Jason started out hot by sweeping “Pin”-terest. But William found the Daily Double in The Mamas.

William risked 1000 on this clue: “When Anne Boleyn was beheaded, she left this 2-year-old daughter and future queen.” William gave the correct response but said, “Excuse me,” and changed it! Too bad.

If I were William I’d be touting my work instead of admitting I’d received hundreds of rejection letters.
We saw the contestants stare at many a triple-stumper before the end of the round.

I wouldn’t have gotten this one right if William hadn’t responded with “Wrigley Stadium,” on this one in Play Ball Music: ‘When you’re born in Chicago you’re blessed & you’re healed the first time you walk into’ this place, rhymed Eddie Vedder.” Kate got it, then inexplicably said “shortstop” on this one in the same category: “‘Put me in, coach, I’m ready to play today,’ sang John Fogerty, ‘look at me, I can be’ this position.” She found the Daily Double eventually in American Islands.

Kate wagered 2000 on this clue: “This island in the Susquehanna River is named for its distance from the town square in Middletown, Pennsylvania.” I figured this one out, but Kate didn’t.
I just have to say I read this book and liked it (in Southern Bookstore): “Mr. Rhett Butler returns to Tara & once again finds himself in the arms of his beloved in this 1992 novel.” William got it. He also found the Daily Double in a weird place, though he was hunting for it there: One Letter Only.

William wagered 2000 on this clue: “Tony the Tiger’s stock symbol.” William got it! There were 10 clues left for Kate to get out of the hole. I believe there were 8 clues left when Mr. Trebek gave the less-than-a-minute warning. We can’t afford any more triple-stumpers! There was at least one more though, plus I doubt it helped Kate that William went up to a 400 clue. She got that one though. I think there were 3 clues left covered at the end of the round.

The Final Jeopardy category was Literary Illustrations. Which means I’ll have to wait hours for the image to arrive in my e-mail. Cute. I’ve tried something I never have, though: Marking it “high priority.” I doubt it’ll make a difference.
This was the clue: “Emile Bayard’s illustration of this character seen here first appeared in the 1860s.”
I wonder if Kate would’ve known this one. This is the kind of clue so ridiculous you consider yourself done watching the show. Jason got it wrong though, losing 1600. William got it, adding 9001 to his score. We’ll see him tomorrow!
I had a whole bunch of triple-stumpers today:
In The Mamas: “In the memoir ‘Remembering Whitney,’ she recalled her daughter & ‘the night the music stopped.'” Kate said “Mama Cass”! ?
In The Pampas: “There are about 20 species of pampas this, a tall, reedlike plant used to make paper.”
In My Next Mustache: “The effort seen here shares its name with this pinniped.”
In Play Ball Music: “The Beastie Boys rhymed, ‘I’ve got more action than my man John Woo’ with ‘and I’ve got mad hits like’ this Hall of Famer.” Did anyone else think of Adam Sandler’s “The Hanukkah Song”? In fact I doubt I’d have gotten this one right if not for the Sandler song. I don’t know the Beastie Boys song.
I got one in American Islands?!: “Until 2007 Chappaquiddick was attached to the eastern end of this larger island by a narrow 2-mile strip of beach.”
In On a Mission: “Seen here, the mission variety of this edible is one of the most popular types grown in the United States.”
My Coryat today was 21400 (26000 without negs).
