I’m back! Andy here after my week’s vacation in Albany! I’m also working on some fun content for the blog over the next couple of months, especially with the Tournament of Champions coming up soon!
Today’s contestants were: Emily Gilmore, Ashok Poozhikunnel (pronounced “poor-e-koo-nel”) and returning champion Julie Reynolds, 1-day champion with $10,005. (By the way: I got yesterday’s Final instantly. I’ve used that as a question in my sports trivia game at some point!)

I was glad to see to see Julie start with ’80s HITMAKERS — it was a trick category though! The 5 songs they picked were 1983’s “Beat It”, 1988’s “Man In The Mirror”, 1980’s “Rock With You”, 1989’s “Miss You Much”, and 1988’s “Father Figure”!
The Daily Double was found under HISTORICAL HODGEPODGE $600; Ashok got to play it, and the scores were:

Ashok bet just $1,000. His clue: This roadway begun in 312 B.C. would eventually extend from Rome to the heel of Italy. His correct response brought him to $4,000 and the show’s first commercial break!
NAME THE PARENT COMPANY seemed to prove rather difficult for our contestants! The contestants went 1/5, only getting $200 (Post-It Notes);
$400 (Fisher-Price toys), $600 (Crest toothpaste), $800 (Milton Bradley games), and $1000 (Jell-O) all went unanswered!

The first Daily Double was under 10 CHARACTERS, 5 AUTHORS in $800 (but after a Triple Stumper at $400 – “Alex Cross, Daniel X” was the clue). The scores here were:

Ashok bet just $2,000. His clue: Alexander Portnoy, President Charles Lindbergh. One of my brother’s cats is named Portnoy, so this was a softball Daily Double for me. However, Ashok had difficulty, and his incorrect response put him at $6,000.
Strategy mavens: What would you have done wagering-wise on that Daily Double in Ashok’s shoes, especially after that Triple Stumper at $400?
CEMETERIES $1200 had the final Daily Double, and it was Julie who was having the most luck since the first one, she had been the only one to ring in! Now the scores sat at:

Her bet: just $1000. Her clue: Soon after this cemetery opened in 1804, the remains of Moliere & others were moved to it, lending a bit of prestige. She was unable to come up with an answer, and her score fell to $8,000.
And the Triple Stumpers kept piling up, though STATE OF THE ART MUSEUM and CAMBODIA didn’t provide too much difficulty! By the end of the DJ! round, the scores were:

I got this Final as well, but I’m probably more familiar with Constitutional amendments from the first half of the 20th century than I am with any other part of the Constitution, so I got lucky there!
