I’ve been away and had to miss Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but I’m happy Vaughn Winchell is probably going to the ToC. I should’ve gotten him a Hanukkah present! 😉 Here he is with his opponents today:

I loved the category name & The Horse You Rode In On. The contestants went to the category last. I remember loving it the first time I heard it, maybe in college! My best friend at the time said it. No one I’ve asked knows where it comes from though, but a reader usually does…. Enlighten me?

Elliot had maybe the strangest and longest story I’ve heard on the show. I didn’t understand the point to be honest! I have to wonder what Trebek’s card said.

Vaughn wagered 1800 on this clue: “George Romney, John Connally, John Mitchell.” Vaughn and I got it right.

Elliot had gotten the first 3 clues right, all in Crossword Clues “D”, when he found the Daily Double there. He had 7400 and wagered 3000 on this clue: “The usually wealthy widow of a king (7).” Elliot was right, and he wound up sweeping the category!
I’m stunned this was a triple-stumper in Penn. Pals: “This country singer from Wyomissing sang the National Anthem at a 76ers game at 11 & had her 1st single ‘Tim McGraw’ at 16.” With guesses of “Shania Twain” and “Trisha Yearwood” respectively, Elliot and Mike are living in the 90s! Maybe they didn’t consider her a country singer. Vaughn later found the other Daily Double of the round there.

And I knew this triple-stumper in Parenthetical Song Titles: “Rihanna: ‘(in the World)’.” Elliot negged on this one too, leaving only 600 between him and Vaughn! At the end of the round:

The Final Jeopardy category is 20th Century America. Here is the clue: “In 1923 Fanny Brice made news by having this procedure, later rejected by a woman portraying her.” Mike was right and added 2399. Elliot was right and added 2201. Vaughn? He was wrong and lost 13801. 🙁
