The 1838 coronation of Queen Victoria is generally considered to be the last of the “botched coronations”. (I’m sure our champion Austin would use more colorful language to describe it.) There was very little rehearsal, and it showed in that the Archbishop of Canterbury put Victoria’s sovereign ring on the wrong finger, and it only came off with great pain.
For coronations that followed after Victoria’s 1901 death, British historians devised a coronation program that was much better rehearsed in order to prevent these mishaps from occurring again.
