If you don’t know the reference in the title, and no one tells me in a comment, I’ll tell you when I blog again a week from tonight. I’ve been following so many inspirational accounts on Twitter though, I can barely start my once-daily reading before stopping again to work on crossword puzzles! I used to love reading my timeline each night, but now I wouldn’t miss it.
I don’t know if you’re as sick of hearing about my wifi and mouse as I am, but to follow up, I think my problems are behind me. I have both a new mouse and a new hotspot, and I set up my wireless printer on the new wifi all by myself. I’m still more shocked than relieved, so far. I was so stressed.
Laura Lorson
(You’d think a newscaster could nail the intro!
I was so captivated, I missed her name twice.)
Dave Perkins
Uh oh – New to the Scrabble Players Dictionary.
LOL – I got this triple-stumper in Abbreviated Reality because I just started following Ross Mathews on Twitter, after the Oscars: “Watch the queen sashay: ‘RPDR.'”
At the first break:
Alvin 1800 (3 right and one wrong)
Dave 4400 (7 right)
Laura 2000 (3 right and one wrong)
Dave found the Daily Double of the round in Not So Desperate Measures.
Alvin 2600 (One right)
Dave 5800 (2 right)
Laura 2000
Dave wagered 4000 on this clue: “Spare this unit of length equal to 16.5 feet.” Dave and I got it right.
At the end of the round:
Alvin 3800 (2 right)
Dave 12000 (5 right)
Laura 3400 (4 right)
Alvin found a Daily Double in Books about Writers.
Alvin 7800 (2 right)
Dave 12000 (2 right and one wrong)
Laura 4600 (One right)
He wagered on this clue: “There’s an entire book just about him & the Church of Ireland, 1710-1724.” Alvin was wrong.
Uh oh, Dave found another Daily Double in Time to Go Explorin’.
Alvin 8000 (2 right)
Dave 13200 (One right)
Laura 7800 (3 right and one wrong)
He wagered 3000 on this long clue: “1522: The Spanish king honors Juan Sebastian del Cano for this first; history honors his late boss Magellan.” Dave got it.
Should I readily admit I got this triple-stumper in Remembering Lauren Bacall?: “In 1964 Lauren played a bickering wife in the film based on this Helen Gurley Brown bestseller.”
At the end of the round:
Alvin 13200 (9 right and one wrong)
Dave 16200
Laura 11400 (4 right)
And to think Laura was so quiet at first!
The Final Jeopardy category was Presidents & the White House. This was the clue: “When the current presidential occupant of the White House was born, this president was living there.” Okay, this doesn’t seem hard at the surface. I even thought about it, which I don’t usually do. Laura was wrong but she didn’t wager anything. Alvin was wrong (Eisenhower?!), and he lost everything. Dave said the same thing!! He lost 10201, and Laura wins!
