What is Shanghai?

In case you missed yesterday’s game, Pidge’s interview yesterday was about how she got her name: Pidge’s mother asked her local bridge-playing friends, who all wanted Pidge named after them. So Pidge’s mother took the first initial of everyone’s name and turned into an acronym for her name!

Results will go up on the main page late afternoon, with full stats early evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of the main page.

According to the World Shipping Council, here are the 10 busiest:

  1. Shanghai, China
  2. Singapore
  3. Shenzhen, China
  4. Hong Kong, China
  5. Ningbo-Zhoushan, China
  6. Busan, South Korea
  7. Qingdao, China
  8. Guangzhou Harbor, China
  9. Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE
  10. Tianjin, China

Europe’s busiest, Rotterdam, is #11. Los Angeles, North America’s busiest, is #19.

And of course, the Oxford Dictionaries entry for “shanghai”.
