What is the Mayflower Compact?
The Mayflower was supposed to reach Virginia, but strong winter seas once they reached Cape Cod in November 1620 forced them to stay in what is now Massachusetts. The Mayflower Compact was signed in order to establish legal order, as some of the Pilgrims had threatened mutiny.
