Here’s tonight’s Final Jeopardy answer and question for Tuesday, January 17, 2017:
Final Jeopardy! category: PLAYS
Final Jeopardy! clue/answer: this play was derived from a 1565 story, “Un Capitano Moro”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Pete Tachibana, a bartender from North Highlands, California
Andrea Keppers, a history educator from Denver, Colorado
John Avila, an attorney from Arlington, Virginia (1-day total: $14,001)
—
“Un Capitano Moro” was a story in Giraldi Cinthio’s Hecatommithi from 1565. In the original story, the Moor is unnamed, but Desdemona is (Disdemona in the original). Obviously, in Shakespeare’s play, the famed Moor of Venice is given the titular name.
