Correct response: Who is Henry David Thoreau?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including Austin Rogers, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

Henry David Thoreau frequented the woods around Concord, MA, and after his campfire got out of control in April 1844, it started a forest fire that burned 300 acres of forest and almost reached the town of Concord itself.

In a similar vein to how many wildfires out in California start, “the earth was uncommonly dry” and his fire “caught the dry grass” and got out of control. The Concord Freeman at the time described the act as “thoughtlessness”.

Later, Thoreau lived in the woods near Concord’s Walden Pond—the inspiration for his book Walden.

  1. Don’t know why they reversed the scoring on Maya’s answer of “00” on the Y2K question. The correct answer is 1900, not 00.

  2. What was the answer involving d’Arcey ?
