Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
After an extremely exciting game last night, today’s Champions Wildcard match is between Alan Johnson, Dennis Chase, and Kate Lazo! I’m expecting to see another hotly-contested match today, though Dennis does have extremely strong statistics (his average Coryat is over $20,000).

Upset at the fact that Joan of Arc’s appearance at Orléans in 1429 had caused a French victory, the English captured the military leader the following year, painting her as a religious heretic and burning her at the stake in 1431. However, following the French victory in the Hundred Years’ War, Pope Callixtus III was petitioned to repair Joan’s honor; the Catholic Church declared on July 7, 1456 that Joan had been tried as a result of “false articles of accusations” of heresy; effectively implying that Joan had been martyred as a prisoner of war. By the early 20th century, Joan had been canonized by the Catholic Church.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Ken did say that just “Joan” or “Jeanne” would have been acceptable.
- Viewers are reminded that the Site Comment Policy sections referring to whether or not contestants phrased responses in the form of a question now explicitly references whether or not contestants pronounced responses properly. The judges have the ability to isolate contestant audio to listen and claims that contestants mispronounced responses will not be permitted on this site.
- Today’s box score: November 10, 2023 Box Score.

Alan: Standard cover bet over Dennis is $11,801. (Actual bet: $11,801)
Dennis: Standard cover bet over Kate is $6,701. (Actual bet: $10,500)
Kate: If Dennis and Alan are incorrect and make cover bets, you’ll need to stay ahead of $5,800. Thus, your best bet is in the $3,601–$3,799 range. (Actual bet: $9,500)

Got this one easily—I was raised Catholic (though I have since left the Church).
P.S. Let us honor our veterans today.
Hi RedRose, I wrote you a 2nd note for the Thursday, November 9th show. It’s closer to the bottom of the comments page. Yes, I got “Joan of Arc,” also. I’m not Catholic, but I took a guess. Congrats!
Hmm… This looks about as straightforward as it could be.
This is pretty straightfoward, Got Joan of arc who battled against the english during her time. Let’s honor the veterans today!
After hearing/reading today’s Final Jeopardy answer, I as well immediately said “who is Joan of Arc?” But though myself wrong, thinking that 1456 was too late for anythinng concerning Joan.
I wonder how many people were thinking Rainbow Connection when the answer in Greens came up taking about Kermit;s other hit; Bein’ Green (it’s official title, although It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green is what the song is more populary known as, and, was accpted as an alternative title.) I originally did, then realized my mistake when Dennis gave the response “What is It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green?”
A straightforward Final indeed for me.
Question for Andy — this evening, Lilly said “Somebody brainstorm a format for 2-person teams.” I noted that was a Mike Richards idea, as the original plan for for the JNCC, and cited your editorial from three years ago. Does it still represent your view on the subject?
As a veteran, I appreciate the sentiments in the comments. Tomorrow being Remembrance Day in Canada and across the Commonwealth, I mourn the passing of those who died for those nations.
Thinking 1456 was “too late” is funny considering that the Vatican only exonerated Galileo in 1992.
The Vatican takes its time in many important matters. In third or fourth century they debated whether or not women were human. Forget what they decided. They still haven’t decided if women can be priests. Not holding my breath.
I also debated in my head whether the date was “too late” to be related to Joan of Arc. I can never remember exactly when she lived. The reason it could be too late is because the clue stated that her mother was alive to witness the exoneration, so that constrains the time period significantly.
I absolutely love the color of Ken’s suit tonight. A lovely and delicious brown shade with a warm touch of chestnut.
Another fun game! On to Game 3 on Monday, where I expect Emily to do real well. I was surprised when she got stopped at 3 wins during her initial stint on the show. She had a great learning technique that her husband contrived before she made it to the show. I don’t remember the exact details, but it prepared her well.
