Andy’s Pre-Game Thoughts:
The question on everyone’s minds, as we approach 4:00 PM this afternoon: will Keshava Guha become Jeopardy! UK’s first 5-time champion? Scotsman Ross Taylor and Yorkshire’s Gill Taylor certainly hope that he doesn’t!
Before anyone asks—two contestants having the same last name has happened a handful of times on the American version.
One thing that I am definitely enjoying about the British version is that the British television listings are including information about the challengers. I’ve actually found that to be very helpful in doing advance preparation for my coverage, and there are definitely some challengers that I am absolutely looking forward to in the coming days!
Another reminder that I have started a Sunday mailbag column where I answer fan & viewer questions regarding the show. If you have a question, feel free to send it to mailbag@thejeopardyfan.com!

Jeopardy! Round #1:
(Categories: ABBA (But Not ABBA); Flower Girls; Location, Bond Location; All Time Best-Selling A.L.B.U.M.S.; Dig It!; Crossword Clues “M”)
Keshava got off to a great start, but his attempt at a True Daily Double went poorly; he fell back to £0. However, it took him all of three clues to tie Gill again for the lead. By the end of 30 clues, Keshava and Gill were tied at the top with £350.

Jeopardy! Round #2:
(Categories: The 2023 Oscars; It Happened In Scotland; Not Your Average Jo(e)s; Name The Century: Battles; Mottos; World-Famous Nightclubs)
Gill’s failure to note that her response needed to fit the category led to Keshava getting to another Daily Double. Meanwhile, Ross found his game and vaulted into the lead in the second half of the round!

Ross 15 correct 1 incorrect

Keshava moved to 0-for-3 on Daily Doubles early in this round; meanwhile, Ross extended his lead by the midway point. Keshava will need to get to 1-for-4 to have any shot at a comeback here, I reckon! As it turned out, Gill got to the Daily Double and made a sportingly large punt, but she got the clue incorrect to fall to third. Keshava also played well enough to make sure Ross didn’t have a runaway going into Final!

The only thing I could think of was Telstar but I knew it was launched in a different year.
