Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
As with the first game, we’ve got three players 1-day champions from Season 39 here playing for a spot in Champions Wildcard. I should note that our players in these games did have their travel to Los Angeles and accommodations while in L.A. provided for them. The third of these Play-In Games will be airing on February 2nd.
The overall stats of our players in this game are slightly higher than the previous one, though nobody’s average Coryat Score is above $11,000 in our second play-in game. Much like Play-In Game #1, it will be hosted by Buzzy Cohen, who also hosted the 2021 Tournament of Champions.

More information about Final Jeopardy:
The Thomas Carlyle book, titled The French Revolution: A History, was written in 1837, just under 50 years after the Revolution took place. It certainly served as an inspiration for Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, as Dickens was said to carry the book around with him as he went.

Are you realizing that your “PLAY-IN GAME #1 RECAP (JANUARY 12, 2024)” is posted FOLLOWING [as in “Next Post >”] your “PLAY-IN GAME #2 RECAP (JANUARY 12, 2024)”? Maybe there is a reason, but it doesn’t seem logical.
I set them to post at the same time, I guess WordPress put 2 in the wrong spot.
The times have been adjusted.
Figuring out the true order must have confused me as it turns out I did not even read this one. Now that I have, I was very surprised to get FJ correct, mostly because I was not fully confident about my response but also because it had turned out to be a Triple Stumper.
Interesting that both of these play in games were won in Runaway fashion. I was at the taping of Matthew Ott’s title defense that aired on 12/12/22, but he lost to 3 game champion Sean McShane.
The taping date was 10/24/22 and we got to see the morning taping of the shows that aired on 12/12/22, 12/13/22, and 12/14/22. I didn’t get to see what happened to Sean McShane’s 3 game win streak until the night of 12/15/22 and lo & behold that was the start of Ray Lalonde’s 13 game winning streak. Just missed seeing Ray by that much!
The Final Jeopardy category, and, the answer, for this play in game, didn’t help me any.
It was a totla miss for me. See what happens next game.
