As we get nearer and nearer to the resumption of regular play on September 9, today’s Encore Presentation features “spiciest memelord” Lilly Chin, fan favourite and former ToC winner Colby Burnett, and “bon vivant and man about town”, the recently retired professor Sam Buttrey. While the outcome ultimately did not seem to be a close-contested matchup on its surface, this was a closely-contested game from all three players that was only determined by the responses and bet sizing on the Daily Doubles.

This quote comes from C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first published work in the Chronicles of Narnia series. Lucy Pevensie is the girl who “got in among the coats”, inadvertently discovering Narnia via the wardrobe.
I should point out that because the category is listed as “Novel Title Objects” today, “Wardrobe” is very likely going to be the only possible correct response to this clue, as any synonyms to “wardrobe” are not found in the title of this C.S. Lewis work.

I should have probably gotten this the first time it aired; somehow, I’ve never been assigned The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe to read for school. Thankfully, I was able to make the connection between “walking into somewhere with coats” and “wardrobe”.
I once said that Ryan Long was probably the closest we’d ever get to a universally-liked contestant… but watching this tournament again, I think you’d have a reasonable argument for giving that title to Sam Buttrey!
