Warning: This page may contain spoilers for the March 19, 2025 game of Jeopardy! UK, especially for those of you watching delayed or on-demand. This page will be updated during each commercial break as the show airs.

Today’s contestants:

Heather Heath, an optometrist from Buckingham
Heather Heath on Jeopardy!
Sree Kanthamneni, an AI product director from Hertfordshire
Sree Kanthamneni on Jeopardy!
Lizzie Mackarel, a PR account manager from Bromley-by-Bow (1-day total: £4,025)
Lizzie Mackarel on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pre-Game Thoughts:

Lizzie Mackarel was yesterday’s winner on Jeopardy!, picking up a shade over £4,000. Today, she faces off against Buckingham’s Heather Heath and Hertfordshire’s Sree Kanthamneni. There seems to have been a bit of a geographical bias to casting thus far—surely, there are intelligent people in the UK who live north of the Midlands!

I’m also finding that many of the contestants in this series have stopped by this site at some point—I’m glad that my writing over the years has assisted your preparations! And if your episode(s) have yet to air, best of retroactive luck to you!

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • There was a weird editing error in Final Jeopardy; both Heather and Sree showed Sree’s response displayed, though the three shot did show that Heather also responded with Czechoslovakia.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Sree £3,900 Lizzie £2,525 Heather £600)

Lizzie: You have to be correct to win. Bet at least £225, but you might as well go all in to maximize your winnings if you’re correct. (Actual bet: £1,400)

Sree: Standard cover bet is £1,151. (Actual bet: £1,200)

Heather: You need an overbet from Sree to have a chance. Bet whatever you like. (Actual bet: £100)

  1. David in London | March 19, 2025 at 8:02 pm |

Finally got one right! Ironic it should be a triple stumper after I failed on the triple get yesterday. I actually remembered it from the time – showing my age there.

Stephen Fry was on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show this morning to promote Jeopardy. He gave a lovely interview (about 2 hours into the programme) – as always his affection for the programme and its contestants is clear to see. I think he’s a great host. However, a word of warning – in the interview he drops a large spoiler about something that happens later in the series, so don’t listen if you don’t want to know!

  2. I was really surprised that none of these British contestants knew this one since the Brits often go on vacation in Europe, regardless of whether they’d studied this in history. I shouldn’t be surprised about it not being covered in school as the US is not much for teaching recent history, but I assumed that was a shortcoming unique to us. I have never really tried to keep up with exactly where different countries in Europe are located [not even ones that 23&Me says I “came from”], but I guessed “What is Hungary?” just because I knew there used to be an Austro-Hungarian Empire so I assumed that they shared a border. Oddly enough Czechoslovakia was my 2nd guess — NO idea why — but I stuck with my first guess.

    • Hi Lisa!

I wrote Hungary, along the same lines of working as you (Austro-Hungarian empire), but thought it was too obvious and deleted it in a fit of nerves. If you watch it back you can see me react when Stephen reveals the correct answer!

      • I didn’t put this in the article itself, but a few months back I was driving around in Euro Truck Simulator 2, and I was curious as to whether a certain rest stop on the Autobahn network was converted from the former border between East and West Germany. (It had been). On the rabbit hole I went down that night, I read about Karl von Habsburg and the Pan-European Picnic in August 1989 that led to the opening of the Austro-Hungarian border.

        • Actually to Andy:

This extra note is so interesting, thanks for taking the time to add it.

You usually note deleted responses in American FJ!s. Does this mean that the British responses are typed instead of written and being deleted makes them never seen by audiences/viewers? If so, do the judges perhaps see the responses as they are being typed (and deleted) as the written responses are here? [I can’t imagine why they would be, but am curious.]

          • I don’t know if the light pen technology is different on the UK version, but Lizzie’s screen on broadcast only ever showed “What is Poland?” There was nothing else written or crossed out.

      • Oh, no! 🤦 My sympathies!
