I could think of Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, and Bucharest, but I figured there was AT LEAST one that I was unaware of (or maybe just forgetting), so I had guessed 5.
After our pair of Hertfordshire contestants on Friday, a pair of Berkshire ones today!
I got lucky with FJ, guessing the response of 5 during the 30 seconds. However, while Stephen was going through the contestants’ responses, I suddenly realised “Oh no, I forgot Berlin!”. It turns out that I had included Belgrade by mistake as my fifth one. I had not realised Serbia was not in the EU. Not my best work!
LOL. Not being sure of all the EU countries was part of why I didn’t try harder to think of more than the first four that came to me. TBH, I wasn’t even positive that Budapest and Bucharest weren’t the same cities, but in two languages!
Thats a good strategy for a clue like this, I think, it would have been more sensible for me to do that! I don’t know that I’d have thought of Bratislava if I hadn’t been there (it turns out it’s a lovely city that doesn’t get mentioned much when people talk about European cities). Brussels is the only other city we’ve mentioned I’ve visited (also great). Would love to visit the rest, especially Berlin.
I don’t think mine was a good strategy, just lucky. It seems to me that Sam and Lisa maybe employed the same strategy — remembering a few and adding for some they assumed they didn’t know or couldn’t remember — but assumed too many additional.
