Today’s contestants:

Tom Mead, an operations manager from Sheffield
Tom Mead on Jeopardy!
Alexandra Hardwick, a university lecturer from Oxford
Alexandra Hardwick on Jeopardy!
Ben Jones, a hotel receptionist from Caerphilly (7-day total: £45,630)
Ben Jones on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pre-Game Thoughts:

The 4-day Easter weekend is over, and Ben Jones returns to our television screens as a 7-day champion, on the cusp of winning £50,000. Today, he faces off against a pair of equally strong quizzers in Oxford’s Alexandra Hardwick and Sheffield’s Tom Mead; Alexandra also being a quizzing teammate of Series 1 3-game champion Emma Laslett. Especially in a game that has an extra 44 buzzer clues than the American version, I think we are very likely to see a very closely contested game between all three players today.

    Another super game.

However, I chose a bad moment to realise I didn’t know who wrote the Wizard of Oz!

    • I was surprised that all three of these players knew it, though I would have expected all three in the original/American Jeopardy! to do so. This is because the original ‘Wizard of Oz’ and movie is such an institution here (and takes place in Kansas), whereas the ‘Wicked’ versions are newer and just about Oz.

I agree. Having said that, I wasn’t surprised all three of the contestants yesterday got it because they all seemed to be really good. It was another really fun episode to watch. Don’t think all that many people here would be able to answer that FJ.
