Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category U.S. Cities) for Tuesday, June 10, 2025 (Season 41, Game 197):
A character in “As You Like It” & a soldier in the Seminole Wars are cited as possible origins for the name of this city
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Matt Massie, an attorney originally from South Charleston, West Virginia![]() |
John Reiss, an editor from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi![]() |
Jackie Rogoff, a writer & library student from Santa Cruz, California (1-day total: $22,001)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Jackie Rogoff is your new Jeopardy! champion after she picked up a runaway victory in her debut on yesterday’s show. Today, she goes for win #2 against editor John Reiss and attorney Matt Massie.
I’d certainly like to see Jackie go on a bit of a run—we’ve had a dearth of longer-running champions lately, and Jackie certainly has the skills to do it.

Correct response: What is Orlando, Florida?

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Orlando, Florida has had previous names, including Fort Gatlin, and Jernigan. However, after Aaron Jernigan lost his military commission and was disgraced in the 1850s, the location wished to rename itself. In the debate, local resident James Speer was pushing for Orlando—whether he wished it to refer to the gravesite of an “Orlando Reeves”, who fought in the Seminole Wars, or to Orlando from his favorite play, As You Like It, is only truly known to him—he cited the former in debates, but his family has since said his true motivation was the latter.
I do like this Final Jeopardy clue overall, with the reference to the Seminole Wars at least giving people without as much Shakespeare knowledge an area of the country to put their guess.

Seminole took me to Florida…then it was a matter of running through major
cities in FL until Orlando clicked.
Andy, your thoughts on going for a TDD on DD3? On the one hand, it’s clue 34 and the next highest score is only 5,000. On the other, it’s a completely unknown category and you’re already in the lead. Momentum would swing hard either way.
(Personally, I admire it and don’t know if I’d have done the same.)
My favorite J! aphorism: “People usually underbet Daily Doubles and overbet Final Jeopardy.”
I applaud what was done here.
I guessed Tallahassee. Oops!
Very nice win tonight by Matt. We’ll see if he can get win #2 tomorrow night.
