Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category New Testament Greek) for Tuesday, January 13, 2026 (Season 42, Game 92):
A famous passage in Matthew 6 refers to kleptai, meaning them
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Bill McKinney, a hospitality executive from San Diego, California
|
Michelle Tsai, a tutor originally from Honolulu, Hawaii
|
Jonathan Hugendubler, an adjunct professor & trivia host from Baltimore, Maryland
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Our three semifinalists today in Jonathan Hugendubler, Michelle Tsai, and Bill McKinney have been set a high bar by yesterday’s semifinalists—yesterday’s game was the first game without a main game incorrect response since July 4, 2019. What will they do for an encore? In any case, the winner gets one step closer to the Tournament of Champions.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
The important part of this Final Jeopardy, as part of the Sermon on the Mount, comes from Matthew 6:19-20 KJV: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: / But lay up for yourselfes treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal”.
Honestly, I am glad that this is generally a universal translation—both the KJV and more modern translations translate “kleptai” the same way—as I don’t think we need a(nother) controversy of Biblical proportions on the show. That said, the “klept”-to-“thief” translation from Greek should be pretty straightforward for most fans and players at this level.

Game Recap:
Finding both Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy was enough for Jonathan Hugendubler to cruise to a runaway entering Final Jeopardy; he then put the exclamation point on the game by being the only player correct in Final.
Scores going into Final:
Jonathan $30,600
Michelle $13,400
Bill $1,200
Tonight’s results:
Bill $1,200 – $0 = $1,200 (Who is Three wisemen)
Michelle $13,400 – $31 = $13,369 (Who are tax collectors? )
Jonathan $30,600 – $0 = $30,600 (Who is thief?) (Finalist)
Chances of winning Champions Wildcard:
Cameron Berry 34.396%
Jonathan Hugendubler 37.534%
Stella Trout 10.875%
Harvey Silikovitz 10.459%
Ian Morrison 6.736%

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Today’s runaway game means that wagering suggestions will not be posted.
- Michelle’s Final Jeopardy wager of 31 is clearly a prescient reference to the number of viewers who are actually boycotting the show after Ken Jennings’s remarks last week on social media.
- Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
