Warning: This page contains spoilers for the March 25, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Writers On Writers) for Wednesday, March 25, 2026 (Season 42, Game 143):

Jane Austen called this English poet “infallible”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Tallulah Pollard, a recent engineering graduate from Mount Airy, Maryland
Tallulah Pollard on Jeopardy!
Thayer Warne, an editorial director from Denver, Colorado
Thayer Warne on Jeopardy!
Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat & law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey (8-day total: $222,203)
Jamie Ding on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Will Jamie Ding get to nine victories? Will he break into the top 20 in all-time regular play winnings? Jonathan Fisher’s $246,100 feels within reach today for Jamie Ding as he takes on challengers Thayer Warne and Tallulah Pollard.

A couple of things that have started to come out this week regarding events over the next week: firstly, in honor of JeoparDAY!, the show is giving away $6,200 to one randomly selected person who takes the special JeoparDAY! Giveaway Test between 7:29 PM Pacific on March 29 and 2:59 AM Pacific on April 7.

CBS’s coverage of the “Sweet 16” round of March Madness will cause some schedule changes on CBS stations tomorrow and Friday; if you watch on a CBS station that airs the show later in the day, make sure to check your local listings or Matt Carberry’s Google sheet.

In her letters, Jane Austen—who admired the great English poet of the previous century—referred to Alexander Pope by saying “there has been one infallible Pope in the world”, punning on the doctrine of papal infallibility.

I know that the show sometimes likes to use brevity as a tactic to potentially impress people, but I feel like even adding “of the previous century” might have been a better choice at this level, at least to point both players and viewers in a better direction. I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of guesses of Austen’s contemporaries today.

Game Recap:

I’ll be honest: it disappoints me when I see a challenger within range of the lead against a dominant champion make a middling conservative wager. You have to play to win! Thayer Warne only bet $3,000 of his $6,400 on the middle Daily Double, and was only still in contention entering Final because of a similarly conservative wager from Jamie ($5,200 of $18,800) and a couple of late $400 gets of his own.

Final Jeopardy turned out to be a Triple Stumper with everyone picking contemporaries of Austen; Jamie’s big led insulated him from the Triple Stumper and is now a 9-day champion. He’ll go for superchampion status tomorrow!

Scores going into Final:

Jamie $25,200
Thayer $13,400
Tallulah $7,200

Tonight’s results:

Tallulah $7,200 – $7,200 = $0 (Who is Byron?)
Thayer $13,400 – $13,400 = $0 (Who is Keats)
Jamie $25,200 – $1,601 = $23,599 (Who is Wordsworth?) (9-day total: $245,802)

Andy’s Thoughts:

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Jamie $25,200 Thayer $13,400 Tallulah $7,200)

Jamie: Standard cover bet is $1,601. (Actual bet: $1,601)

Thayer: You have to bet at least $10,200 to have a chance of victory. (Actual bet: $13,400)

Tallulah: If Thayer bets the minimum he needs to, he falls to $3,200. Thus, bet no more than $3,999 and take second place if Thayer misses Final Jeopardy. (Actual bet: $7,200)
