Warning: This page contains spoilers for the March 6, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.
Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Countries of the World) for Friday, March 6, 2026 (Season 42, Game 130):
Its island province of Annobón lies at 1.4 degrees south latitude; its mainland begins at .92 degrees north latitude
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Heidi Schmechel, a veterinarian originally from Rumson, New Jersey
|
James Denison, a college professor & museum curator originally from Alexandria, Virginia
|
Cory Aiello, a development officer from Indianapolis, Indiana (1-day total: $17,930)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
The 43 attempts from Cory Aiello in yesterday’s game is the highest number for any contestant in regular play since Ron Lalonde on December 4; he won yesterday in runaway fashion. Today, he faces off in a title defense against James Denison and Heidi Schmechel.
In terms of the previously-promised-for-Sunday preview of Celebrity Jeopardy!: I’ve decided that it is better to self-contain the coverage to each individual episode’s recap as each game airs. The opening game between Rachel Dratch, Mark Duplass, and Katie Nolan is set to air next Friday (March 13) at 8:00 (7:00 Central).

Correct response: What is Equatorial Guinea?

The country of Equatorial Guinea doesn’t actually have land touching the Equator; it has land north and south of it: north of the Equator is the mainland, Rio Muni, and the island of Bioko; south of the Equator is the island of Annobón. The island of Bioko is the location of the former capital of Malabo, replaced by Ciudad de la Paz in January 2026.
If you’re good at geography, you should have no problems with this. However, I always find that fewer people than expected are good at geography. We shall see how this plays!

Game Recap:
James Denison was no stranger to aggressive wagering, picking up $9,000 on the game’s last Daily Double. Ending up $200 short of a runaway ultimately ended up helping him, as he chose an old-school aggressive Final Jeopardy wager from a near-runaway, taking a big payday of $36,199 home. Fellow challenger Heidi Schmechel took second, while defending champion Cory Aiello had six incorrect and took third.
Scores going into Final:
James $24,200
Heidi $12,200
Cory $3,400
Tonight’s results:
Cory $3,400 – $604 = $2,796 (What is Singapore?)
Heidi $12,200 + $12,200 = $24,400 (What is Equatorial Guinea?)
James $24,200 + $11,999 = $36,199 (What is Equatorial Guinea?) (1-day total: $36,199)

Game Stats:
James $15,000 Coryat, 20 correct, 4 incorrect, 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57), 1/2 on rebound attempts (on 5 rebound opportunities)
Heidi $10,400 Coryat, 14 correct, 1 incorrect, 21.05% in first on buzzer (12/57), 1/2 on rebound attempts (on 8 rebound opportunities)
Cory $3,400 Coryat, 15 correct, 6 incorrect, 31.58% in first on buzzer (18/57), 2/3 on rebound attempts (on 3 rebound opportunities)

James Denison, to win:
2 games: 66.240%
3: 43.877%
4: 29.064%

6: 12.753%
Avg. streak: 2.962 games.
Andy’s Thoughts:
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: James $24,200 Heidi $12,200 Cory $3,400)
Cory: Bet no more than $2,999 and take second if Heidi is incorrect in Final. (Actual bet: $604)
James: Standard cover bet is $201. I’m not disputing that $11,999 is acceptable if you’re 100% sure that second place will go all in here. However, there have been enough instances where second doesn’t go all in—even after the host makes it clear that the game is still in the balance—that it’s better overall to just make the standard cover bet. (Actual bet: $11,999)
Heidi: Bet at least $11,801 to have any chance of victory. (Actual bet: $12,200)
