Our new tape day—representing a new week of shows—sees Jamie Ding enter as a 16-day champion, having made it to #8 in terms of regular-play winnings and a tie for 10th in terms of games won. He goes for win #17 today against Mikey Hlebasko of Georgia and Maggie Faucher of western Pennsylvania.
One statistic that I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet, but I find extremely impressive about Jamie, is that there have been only 6 categories in 16 games in which Jamie has failed to give at least one correct response. (For comparison’s sake: In Ken Jennings’s first 16 games, Ken zeroed out in seven categories.) That speaks to how wide Jamie’s knowledge base is—there isn’t a lot of stuff that Jamie knows very little about.
Last week, someone floated the idea online that, due to Jamie’s bets in Final Jeopardy, he had lost more money in that round than any other contestant in the history of the show. I am absolutely shocked that nobody chose to offer the actual #1 (or even #2) in that statistic in regular play—unsurprisingly, it’s the two players who lead in wins, Ken Jennings and Amy Schneider. The total of Amy Schneider’s losses on her 13 incorrect Final Jeopardy clues in regular play was $196,000, while the total of Ken Jennings’s losses on his 24 incorrect Final Jeopardy clues in regular play was $191,543. (Jamie is only at $78,938, while Matt Amodio lost $131,000.)

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:
Proposals for a bridge to be built between Great Britain (either via Wales or Scotland) and Ireland have been floated for over 200 years—first satirical, around the time of the Act of Union, then serious. However, the length of water to cross, as well as the depth of the water, have always proven to be prohibitive. Moreover, some areas of the Irish Sea’s north channel have been used as a munitions dump, meaning it would be even more cost-prohibitive to build in the area.
Basically, I think you have to know where the North Channel is in order to get this clue correct; otherwise, you’re just throwing darts at a dartboard encompassing the entire world map.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- One thing that our players should be commended for: there was only 1 Triple Stumper in this game; the only clues not responded to correctly were that one Triple Stumper, the incorrect Daily Double from Maggie, and Final.
- Maggie is the first “Faucher” in J! Archive; thus, her father either has a different last name, or her father appeared in one of the many games J! Archive doesn’t have from that time period. (J! Archive is still missing about 100 games from the early-to-mid 1990s.) Thus, I would say either is about as likely of a reason.
- It should also be noted that the box scores from Jamie’s run do say that Jamie got in on well under 60% of his attempts in his 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th games, and I would thus surmise, just from the fact that Jamie had 34 correct responses today, that he was nowhere near his low amount in his run to date.
- Today’s double runaway means that wagering suggestions will not be posted.
- In case viewers weren’t watching the screen during the clue in question, today’s episode was taped on February 24, 2026, just under a month before the news stories surfaced regarding Cesar Chavez.
