Warning: This page contains spoilers for the April 7, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Museum Pieces) for Tuesday, April 7, 2026 (Season 42, Game 152):

A piece of mountaineering equipment at the International Spy Museum in D.C. was used to kill this man in 1940

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Kevin Iannone, a trivia host from Flagstaff, Arizona
Kevin Iannone on Jeopardy!
Divya Srijay, a student originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina
Divya Srijay on Jeopardy!
Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat & law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey (17-day total: $494,012)
Jamie Ding on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Jamie Ding had one of his better games yesterday in terms of buzzer attempts, with 50, which propelled him to another dominant victory on the show. Today, he goes for victory #18 against South Carolina’s Divya Srijay and Arizona’s Kevin Iannone.

What else is there to play for today for Jamie?

  • $5,988 away from $500,000 (which would also pass #18 Julia Collins and #17 Jerome Vered in all-time winnings, including tournaments and consolation prizes);
  • $38,484 away from #7 Jason Zuffranieri in regular play winnings;
  • $38,988 away from #16 Scott Riccardi in all-time winnings, including tournaments (and consolation prizes);
  • $40,353 away from #15 Andrew He in all-time winnings;
  • 7 correct responses away from #15 Matt Jackson in all-time correct responses;
  • 26 correct responses away from #7 Jason Zuffranieri in regular-play correct responses;
  • 27 correct responses away from #14 David Madden in all-time correct responses;
  • 34 correct responses away from #13 Julia Collins in all-time correct responses.

I was reminded yesterday that, despite what you see online sometimes, the vast majority of Jeopardy! fans are still cheering for Jamie—they just need some coaxing out of the woodwork. A Facebook post I made asking for fans to say positive things about Jamie was generally successful; over 90% of the commenters followed instructions. It was a good reminder that the negativity is just a loud-but-vocal minority.

Correct response: Who is Leon Trotsky?

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Russian revolutionary figure Leon Trotsky, one of the two most prominent Russians alongside Lenin until Lenin’s death in 1924, was the most vocal opposition to Stalin, resulting in Trotsky being exiled from Russia in the late 1920s. Eventually settling in Mexico, Stalinist agent Ramón Mercader assassinated Trotsky with an ice axe in 1940. Originally seized by Mexican police as evidence, the axe eventually found its way to the collection of the International Spy Museum.

As someone who is still very year-oriented when it comes to trivia and has associated 1940 with Trotsky, this was a straightforward Final for me; however, World War 2 could certainly provide a red herring for our players.

Game Recap:

Thanks to incorrect responses on both of the first two Daily Doubles and a conservative bet on the third, Jamie Ding had a lower-than-usal score of $28,000 entering Final Jeopardy today; that being said, he had a dominant runaway once again as a result of all of his correct responses.

Final Jeopardy saw Jamie put an exclamation point on the win with a correct response, bringing his total over the $500,000 mark. He’ll go for victory number 19 tomorrow!

Scores going into Final:

Jamie $28,000
Kevin $5,000
Divya -$1,000

Tonight’s results:

Divya -$1,000 (By rule, did not participate in Final Jeopardy)
Kevin $5,000 – $5,000 = $0 (Who ?)
Jamie $28,000 + $8,360 = $36,360 (Who is Trotsky? (Ouch!)) (18-day total: $530,372)
