Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century Names) for Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (Season 42, Game 182):
Shunned by his religion when he went to study law in England, he met Christians who helped him awaken a “religious quest”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Sunil Hebbar, a physician from Redondo Beach, California
|
Rose Sloan, a computer science professor from Boston, Massachusetts
|
Tristan Williams, a data scientist originally from Lincoln, Nebraska (9-day total: $188,501)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Today, Tristan Williams looks to become the 21st superchampion in Jeopardy! history; however, Rose Sloan of the East Coast and Sunil Hebbar of the West Coast look to stop him from doing so.
Regardless of whether or not Tristan wins today, I think it will still take him a couple of games for him to make it onto some of the “top 20” leaderboards, though I’ve certainly been surprised in the past!

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Although his experiences as a youth in India inspired a deep dislike of Christianity, Mohandas Gandhi later gained a great respect for Christ, mostly due to a devout Christian he met at a vegetarian boarding-house in London, who reminded Gandhi that “I am a vegetarian. I do not drink. Many Christians eat met and drink; but neither met eating nor drinking is enjoined by Scripture. Do please read the Bible.” After reading the Bible, Gandhi found the Sermon on the Mount to be a religious awakening for him, inspiring him to try to “unify the teaching of the [Bhagavad] Gita, the ‘Light of Asia’, and the Sermon on the Mount”. This awakening was extremely important for the spiritual side of a man who had been shunned by many in India for going to England in the first place to study law.

Game Recap:
Today’s game saw a back-and-forth battle between Tristan and Rose; Rose led early on the strength of the first Daily Double, causing Tristan to spend most of the game having to claw back the deficit. Tristan did get there, though, and led entering Final despite both Tristan and Rose passing the 20 correct response mark before Final Jeopardy.
Rose made a savvy Final Jeopardy bet, putting the pressure on Tristan, who was up to the challenge with a correct response, becoming the 21st superchampion in the show’s history. He’ll be back tomorrow to go for win #11.
Scores going into Final:
Tristan $21,200
Rose $16,700
Sunil $800
Tonight’s results:
Sunil $800 – $799 = $1 (Who is Lewis?)
Rose $16,700 – $4,501 = $12,199 (Who is Hubbard)
Tristan $21,200 + $12,201 = $33,401 (Who is Gandhi?) (10-day total: $221,902)

Game Stats:
Tristan $21,200 Coryat, 23 correct, 2 incorrect, 36.84% in first on buzzer (21/57), 4/4 on rebound attempts (on 8 rebound opportunities)
Rose $14,200 Coryat, 20 correct, 3 incorrect, 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57), 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities)
Sunil $3,000 Coryat, 9 correct, 5 incorrect, 17.54% in first on buzzer (10/57), 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $38,400
Tristan Williams, to win:
11 games: 67.928%
12: 46.142%
13: 31.343%
14: 21.291%
15: 14.463%
Avg. streak: 12.118 games.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- With these stats, I’d be shocked if we didn’t see Rose next winter in Second Chance.
- Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Tristan $21,200 Rose $16,700 Sunil $800)
Tristan: Standard cover bet is $12,201. (Actual bet: $12,201)
Rose: If Tristan is incorrect in Final, he falls to $8,999. Thus, you should bet between $4,501 and $7,699 in this game that’s between three-quarters and four-fifths. (Actual bet: $4,501)
Sunil: Bet whatever you like. (Actual bet: $799)
