Here’s the Pop Culture Jeopardy Final Jeopardy (in the category Digital Sales) for Friday, May 22, 2026 (Season 1, Game 10):

Memorable uses in 2 very different TV series helped make this the biggest-selling digital song originally recorded in the ’80s

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Pop Culture Jeopardy! contestants:

Two Of Your French Girls, Katey & Chris
Two Of Your French Girls on Pop Culture Jeopardy!
AMC B-Listers, Jack & Henry
AMC B-Listers on Pop Culture Jeopardy!
Oakland Spirit Tunnel, West & Joshua (2 wins)
Oakland Spirit Tunnel on Pop Culture Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

We’re past the midway mark of the preliminary games of Season 2 of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, as Oakland Spirit Tunnel takes on Two Of Your French Girls and AMC B-Listers in an attempt to pick up victory number three.

I still am left here wishing that Jeopardy! and Netflix had been more forthcoming about “who fills out the semifinals if there aren’t 9 winners” and “how much money do nonwinning teams get”; this feels like pretty basic information to provide, and I am concerned about future partnerships and the general secrecy of information here.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Thanks to the song being featured in 2007 in the finale of The Sopranos, and later in 2009 on the series Glee, Journey’s song “Don’t Stop Believin'” is the biggest-selling song from the 1980s in terms of digital sales—and is very likely one of the most popular songs from the decade. Certainly, the song has been the bane of karaoke hosts in college towns since at least the mid-2000s (not that I’m speaking from personal experience here or anything). While I’m not sure if it still holds the distinction for the entire century, there was a time where this song was the best-selling digital download of any song released in the 20th century.

Being that it’s very similar to a final question I once asked in my own music trivia hosting days, this was an instaget for me, but without having encountered this information before, I certainly could see why teams might settle on a different song.

Game Recap & Tonight’s Game Stats:

Here’s the recap for Season 2, Episode 10:

Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: Let The Games Begin!; Decor That Sparks Joy; On Radio’s The Breakfast Club; Fictional Places; Is That Russian?; Pop Potent Potables)

The AMC B-Listers found the Daily Double early, falling back to 0 after an incorrect response. They had plenty of time to recover, though, and led through 30. On the opening board, AMC went 4/5 in The Breakfast Club and 3/5 in games, while Oakland went 3/5 in things that sound Russian but aren’t.

Today’s interviews:

Two Of Your French Girls met at TIFF about a decade ago.
AMC B-Listers met in a Harvard film class.
Oakland Spirit Tunnel often speak in funny voices with each other.

Statistics after the Jeopardy round:

Oakland Spirit Tunnel 7 correct 1 incorrect

Double Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: Alternate Universe Band Names; Comedians; My Life With The Walter Boys; Films Written By Women; High Elf Esteem; Short Kings)

After AMC started the round well, jumping into the lead, Oakland Spirit Tunnel made it a game by doubling up through DD2; unfortunately, they gave back the 5,000 points on DD3—but it wasn’t a runaway for the AMC B-Listers entering Final Jeopardy, either, and all three teams were still in contention entering Clue 61. On the second board, AMC went 4/5 in Short Kings and 3/5 in Films Written By Women.

Statistics after Double Jeopardy:

AMC B-Listers 22 correct 2 incorrect
Oakland Spirit Tunnel 14 correct 3 incorrect
Two Of Your French Girls 10 correct 3 incorrect

Scores going into Final:

AMC B-Listers 16,600
Oakland Spirit Tunnel 9,400
Two Of Your French Girls 7,600

The AMC B-Listers put the finishing touches on their victory in this one by being the only team correct in Final Jeopardy. They’ll return Monday in an attempt to get to win #2.

Tonight’s results:

Two Of Your French Girls 7,600 – 7,600 = 0 (What is Running Up That Hill)
Oakland Spirit Tunnel 9,400 – 5,801 = 3,599 (What is Running Up That Hill?)
AMC B-Listers 16,600 + 2,300 = 18,900 (What is Don’t Stop Believin’) (Quarter-Finalist)

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • With regard to the legibility of AMC’s reponse in Final Jeopardy: the judges have the ability to see the responses being written in real time; thus, they would have seen the various letters being written by the players and would have made their ruling based on that, not on the legibility of the end response.
  • Unless the intent of the “joke” was to say “I am pretending to be a stereotypical man” (and even then, I didn’t think it was particularly funny), I think Colin’s reaction to the “films written by women” category should have been excised in post-production, as I think it risks portraying the Jeopardy! universe in a negative light—especially in a 2026 world where nuance has a difficult existence.
