|

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
We’re now in to the month of June, with our champion entering the month being Chris D’Angelo. Chris has been a very strong player over his eight victories, averaging nearly 29 correct responses per game. Hoping to end Chris’s streak at 8 games, though, are Peter McFerrin and Camryn Bell.

Correct response: What are riverboat gamblers?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
The term “riverboat gambler” originates from the casinos that were located on boats in the Mississippi River, whose floating status meant that they were able to evade the jurisdiction of anti-gambling statutes on land in the 19th century. Today, it has evolved into one who takes big risks, with NFL fans potentially familiar with the nickname “Riverboat Ron” given to Ron Rivera, who coached in Carolina from 2011 to 2019 and in Washington from 2020 to 2023, due to Rivera’s propensity to take risky decisions on fourth down.
I’m very pleased to say that I am very much familiar with this expression, to the point where it was an insta-get for me. I have a feeling that the average viewer audience is going to find this Final to be on the easier side today, and it would not surprise me if I found people on Facebook later mocking those who did not get it correct.

Game Recap:
Peter McFerrin may have showed Yogesh Raut-levels of knowledge at times, but some of his strategic choices gave Chris D’Angelo an opening. Peter left $3,500 on the table on the opening Daily Double and went back to the category that DD2 was in twice, allowing Chris to have the shot at DD3 instead. This meant that Peter didn’t have this game sewn up entering Final Jeopardy.
Thankfully for Peter, though, Final Jeopardy turned out to be a Triple Stumper, which ends Chris’s run at 8 games and gives Peter the win on the strength of his lead entering Final Jeopardy. He’ll be back tomorrow to defend.
Scores going into Final:
Peter $20,700
Chris $11,200
Camryn $10,200
Tonight’s results:
Camryn $10,200 – $10,200 = $0 (What are big spenders?)
Chris $11,200 – $11,200 = $0 (What are high rollers)
Peter $20,700 – $1,701 = $18,999 (What are mavericks?) (1-day total: $18,999)

Game Stats:
Peter $19,400 Coryat, 22 correct, 4 incorrect, 40.35% in first on buzzer (23/57), 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)
Camryn $10,200 Coryat, 14 correct, 0 incorrect, 21.05% in first on buzzer (12/57), 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 8 rebound opportunities)
Chris $10,600 Coryat, 18 correct, 5 incorrect, 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57), 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $40,200
Peter McFerrin, to win:
2 games: 65.364%
3: 42.725%
4: 27.926%
5: 18.254%
6: 11.931%
Avg. streak: 2.887 games.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- With what I know about Yogesh, I am left feeling that Peter either failed to ask Yogesh for advice, or that Peter failed to really heed Yogesh’s advice, due to all of the strategic errors that we saw in the main game today.
- Certainly, if any of my ex-teammates ever made it on to Jeopardy!, I’d be disappointed if I wasn’t asked for advice in advance.
- Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Peter $20,700 Chris $11,200 Camryn $10,200)
Chris: Bet at least $9,201 to cover Camryn, but you might as well go all in here. (Actual bet: $11,200)
Peter: Standard cover bet is $1,701. (Actual bet: $1,701)
Camryn: It might be worth an extra thousand dollars if you go close to all in but not all in, but you should go as pretty close to all in as possible, as you only win in a singleton get in Final. (Actual bet: $10,200)
