Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century Novels) for Tuesday, June 2, 2026 (Season 42, Game 192):

An introductory note to this novel offered gratitude to “the great profession of architecture and its heroes”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Alex Reyes, an authorization tech from Panorama City, California
Alex Reyes on Jeopardy!
Savannah Madeira, an arts administrator from Kempton, Pennsylvania
Savannah Madeira on Jeopardy!
Peter McFerrin, an energy industry professional from Corona, California (1-day total: $18,999)
Peter McFerrin on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Peter McFerrin unseated an 8-game champion in yesterday’s game in Chris D’Angelo; today, he goes to defend his title against Alex Reyes & Savannah Madeira. One thing that I do want to note, even though this comes up every time it happens: Contestants are permitted to request to be seated for any reason whatsoever and do not need to disclose that reason to the public when that happens.

One thing that happened yesterday is that my Facebook page got hit with a spam attack from the friends of a contestant from last week beginning a “grassroots” Second Chance campaign. It is my hope that the show completely chooses to ignore such campaigns and only looks at the statistics, as I don’t think the show should be casting based on who has the most number of friends, instead casting for Second Chance based on merit in the game itself.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

The Fountainhead was the first successful literary work from Russian-born American author Ayn Rand and details the work of Howard Roark, a young architect who defies convention and refuses to compromise with the establishment.

While a number of right-wing thinkers today have drawn inspiration from Rand, I would say that she herself was generally critical of many in that sphere who did find inspiration in her, and that certainly differentiates her from some authors in the modern sphere.

Game Recap:

Our two challengers might have had their opportunities early in this one, but Peter was afforded the opportunity to get his footing before finding the game’s major clues. In all, Peter picked up $10,000 from those clues, and then another $16,799 from Final Jeopardy, as he took the show for nearly $50,000 today and a second victory. He’ll go for win #3 tomorrow.

Scores going into Final:

Peter $32,400
Savannah $7,800
Alex $5,400

Tonight’s results:

Alex $5,400 + $5,400 = $10,800 (What is The Fountainhead)
Savannah $7,800 – $3,001 = $4,799 (What is the Brutalist?)
Peter $32,400 + $16,799 = $49,199 (What is The Fountainhead?) (2-day total: $68,198)
