Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century History) for Wednesday, July 15, 2026 (Season 42, Game 223):
The U.N. Conference of April 25, 1945 opened with a speech that said this man “gave his life while trying to perpetuate these high ideals”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Armando Marin, an attorney from Queens, New York
|
Marisa Rizzuti, a director of planned giving originally from Centerport, New York
|
Caleb Groen, a law & policy student originally from Thousand Oaks, California (9-day total: $240,600)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Will Caleb Groen become the 23rd superchampion in Jeopardy! history today? Certainly, his chances are good—Caleb is incredibly strong on the Daily Doubles, only missing one thus far in nine wins. However, as always, there are two challengers lurking, and it’s quite possible that one of Marisa Rizzuti and Armando Marin could take him down.
One thing that I’ve realized recently: the opening week of Season 37 saw 13 unplayed clues in just those five episodes. The entirety of Season 42 to date—with eight episodes to play as of this morning—has seen just 11. I would like to commend Jeopardy! for all it has done in order to reduce the number of unplayed clues.
I should also remind my readers that the look and feel of The Jeopardy! Fan will be changing slightly in the next month or so. After over ten years on the platform, this site will no longer use WordPress, with a chief motivating factor for the switch being WordPress developer Automattic’s hiring of the person who demonstrated to an entire industry that it was somehow acceptable to steal my work without attribution. I am thus more than thrilled to confirm a migration of the site to the Labrador content management system.

The famous San Francisco Conference that saw the formation of the United Nations was held over a period of two months in 1945. The conference’s opening address was delivered to a worldwide delegation via direct wire by U.S. President Harry S. Truman, successor of the then-recently deceased Franklin D. Roosevelt; Roosevelt had appointed the U.S. delegation to San Francisco, including Secretary of State Edward Stettinius Jr. and Cordell Hull, the latter of whom received the 1945 Nobel Peace Prize for his pivotal role in the U.N.’s founding.
The full speech can be found at the website of the Harry. S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum.
