Warning: This page will contain spoilers for the May 8, 2023, second game of Jeopardy! Masters if you’re in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zones — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. It will be updated alongside the Eastern Time airing of the show, beginning at about 8:30 PM Eastern.
This game’s Jeopardy! Masters contestants:
Sam Buttrey, an associate professor at the Naval Postgraduate School from Pacific Grove, California (0 points)
Mattea Roach, a writer & podcaster from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (0 points)
James Holzhauer, a self-described game show villain from Las Vegas, Nevada (0 points)
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
James is certainly the prohibitive favorite overall, and he’s drawn Mattea Roach and Sam Buttrey to start. If either Mattea or Sam beat James today, that would be a monster confidence boost for either of them. Much like the first half of the episode, this game’s winner will automatically play in tomorrow’s second game. Again, this game’s winner will get 3 standings points, second place will get 1, and third place will get 0.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.
