Dana faced the following Daily Double:
David Bowie was a style icon of this look from the Greek for “male & female in one”
She said “What is hermaphrodite”, the correct response was “What is androgynous”.
I’ve seen some other spots on the Internet hinting that Dana’s response should have been judged correct. I don’t really agree.
Reputable fashion writers would definitely use “androgynous”; they would not have used Dana’s response at all. While it might fit the Greek, it certainly doesn’t fit the style half of the clue. But I’d say she was about as close as you could without actually being correct.

I think that clue tripped me over on that one. When it said “male and female in one”, I thought, “Okay…one is “mono” in Greek, but with male and female? It could mean so many definitions.” Definitely a weird clue when put it together. I mean, Dana’s should be labeled as a JEOPORTMANTEAU! clue.
