Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Jeopardy! fans are being given a third week of Second Chance competition this year, due to the overwhelming number of strong contestants that we have seen on the Alex Trebek Stage in the past 13 months. Our third week of Second Chance play kicks off with Keegan Olson, Abigail Arnold, and Mustafa Hameed. The Unified Prediction Model does have Abigail as a very slim favorite to take victory today; as I noted in my preview on the weekend, Mustafa made a poor bet in Final Jeopardy in his original appearance, leading to his defeat; one thing I always hope for is that players learn from their mistakes and make better choices their second time out.

When looking at the categories today to look at the clues for J!6, I could not help but notice a category titled “6, 7”. While some pundits in the space will undoubtedly use this category as a cudgel against the writing staff and use this as proof that the writers’ room has let brainrot take over, I say, “Let the writers have fun and meme!”

Final Jeopardy! Category: European History

Final Jeopardy! Clue: On January 20, 1649 he asked, “By what power I am called hither? It is not long since that I was in the Isle of Wight”

Correct response: Who is Charles I?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Following the English Civil War and the capture of King Charles I by the Parliamentarians, Charles was eventually taken to the Isle of Wight, primarily Carisbrook Castle, as a prisoner. By early 1649, Charles was put on trial for High Treason by a High Court of Justice (enacted by the Rump Parliament). Charles, as King, routinely questioned the legitimacy of this, often citing the divine right of kings, but he was nonetheless found guilty and executed on January 30. This led to the period of English history known as the Interregnum before the monarchy was restored in 1660.

English history is often a more difficult category for American players; Keegan may have an upper hand on this Final, being Canadian, but we shall see.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Today’s runaway for first and second means that wagering suggestions need not be posted.
  • It should be noted that Sharice Davids never competed in a UFC-sancitioned bout, therefore the judges acted properly in ruling that response incorrect.
  • Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
