Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Derek Lombardi, an urban planner from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Derek Lombardi on Jeopardy!

Kate Raven, an incoming law student from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Kate Raven on Jeopardy!

Adam Remsen, an attorney & theater producer from Memphis, Tennessee (9-day total: $192,805)

Adam Rensen on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Just last month, Tristan Williams became the 21st superchampion in Jeopardy! history. Today, 9-day champion will attempt to become the 22nd, and will do so if he is able to defeat today’s challengers in Kate Raven and Derek Lombardi.

One thing that has come up a few times over the past few weeks is the degree to which players are “for sure” to receive a Second Chance invitation. The caliber of play has increased so significantly over the past few years that a performance that might have been seen as “for sure” 2 or 3 years ago might only be a “maybe” now. I would say that the “for sure” threshold for Second Chance today might be “leading a superchamp entering Final Jeopardy”, or a combination of 40+ attempts, 20 correct, $15,000 Coryat Score, or $20,000 entering Final Jeopardy.

Final Jeopardy! Clue: After measuring the transit of Venus in 1761, this pair of astronomers was recommended by the Royal Society for a job in America

In order to redesign our merchandise area to serve you better in 2026, all merchandise sales have been temporarily taken offline. Look for a return in late 2026! All previous orders will still be supported.

Correct response: Who are (Charles) Mason & (Jeremiah) Dixon?

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:

English astronomers Charles Mason & Jeremiah Dixon ended up in the United States in the early 1760s in the aftermath of Cresap’s War, to demarcate a border line between Maryland and Pennsylvania; the line still demarcates Maryland’s northern border with Pennsylvania and its eastern border with Delaware on the Delmarva Peninsula, with the line and Ohio River becoming the demarkation point between free & slave states in 19th century America.

This feels like a generally straightforward Final Jeopardy clue, one that I think we need more of in 2026.

Adam looked like he might be in trouble with a slim lead in Double Jeopardy, but a shocking True Daily Double gave him a cushion. Derek found DD3, though, and bet enough to get close to Adam. Things were very interesting going into Final Jeopardy! today! On the second board, Derek got 3 in the geography category and song title parentheticals, while Adam got 3 in 3,3.

Andy’s Thoughts:

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Adam $20,800 Derek $18,000 Kate $13,600)

Adam: Standard cover bet over Derek is $15,201. (Actual bet: $15,201)

Kate: Your best chance of victory comes with a Triple Stumper. Bet between $0 and $4,800 (but being that you’ve hoping for a Triple Stumper, I think a lot of people online would be most impressed with a $0 wager here. (Actual bet: $13,600)

Derek: Standard cover bet over Kate is $9,201. You should probably do this because this still keeps you ahead of Adam if you both miss Final. (Actual bet: $7,500)
