The fort at the original location of Brownsville, Texas was originally named Fort Texas, but was renamed to Fort Brown after the start of the Mexican–American War, and an incident where the fort’s commander, Major Jacob Brown, had a cannonball hit his leg, dying three days later.
It entered the news in 2018 as Casa Padre, the largest juvenile immigration detention center in America, is within its city limits; Casa Padre is where many children are being held in custody as part of the Trump administration policy of separating immigrant children from their parents.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Eric was on the wrong end of some absolutely correct but painful judgement calls. He said “numistacist” instead of “numismatist”, and gave the wrong winning amount for “Pyramid” (which is “incorrect extra information which turns a correct response incorrect”).
- I have mixed thoughts about today’s endgame. On the one hand, it feels like Eric shuld have avoided the $400 clue until the Daily Double was found in 13-LETTER WORDS. On the other, it really feels like the producers have been actively trying to avoid unplayed Daily Doubles this season. Considering how dominant Eric has been when he wants to be on the buzzer, it almost felt like a case of “I want to earn as much money as I can before the Daily Double”, which does have the effect of keeping Eric’s Daily Double wager as low as possible. That being said: for normal players who do not appear to have Eric’s buzzer dominance, it’s probably much better to go after the Daily Double.
- Effective in first on buzzer stats: Eric 40.00% (22/55), Mitch 43.64% (24/57), Alex 16.36% (9/55).
