Emma Goldman fled her native Russia in 1885 for the United States, she turned to anarchism after feeling that many Chicago anarchists had been the victims of a miscarriage of justice after the 1886 Haymarket Square riots in that city.
Anarchist Leon Czolgosz, who assassinated William McKinley in 1901, claimed to be acting under the influence of Emma Goldman when he killed the President, even though the two had only met briefly.
Goldman became demonized in the press as a violent anarchist, as evidenced by one Chicago Tribune article of 1901.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- I like to say that Brad Rutter will give you one opportunity a tournament to beat him. I get the sense that this episode was that opportunity.
- That being said: after that performance by Alex, where do you place him on the list of top Jeopardy! players ever? If you consider the two rounds Alex and Brad played against each other, your score is Alex 19400 Colby-Pam 9200 Brad 8800. The Coryat score was $20,600 for Alex to $6,000 for Brad.
- I think that Jennifer surprised a lot of people tonight, staying even with Alan and David.
- It’s hard to argue against Alex’s Daily Double strategy. It effectively locked Team Colby into third place, and it allowed Buzzy to have a shot at Team Brad in Final. The only way that Alex would have bet big would have been if he felt that he had a freeroll at the lead, and at that point he definitely did not.
- I was a little bit annoyed that Alex Trebek didn’t prompt Alex Jacob for an answer on the Daily Double that Alex Jacob timed out on. Alex Trebek usually does this.
- Will $21,800 be enough for Team Colby to advance? Only time will tell.
- Effective in first on buzzer stats: Alan 30.77% (8/26), Jennifer 30.77% (8/26), David 38.46% (10/26), Alex 51.85% (14/27), Pam 22.22% (6/27), Brad 25.93% (7/27).
