Correct response: What is the Velvet Revolution?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

The Velvet Revolution was the term used to describe the nonviolent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia in 1989 from the Communist Party to a democratic system of government. Alexander Dubček was elected Speaker of the federal Parliament and Václav Havel was elcted President in late 1989. Rita Klímová, who at the time was the English translator of the dissident group, eventually became Ambassador to the United States.

In Slovakia, the term “Gentle Revolution” is preferred.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Well, we’re going to get Ken vs. Brad in the final. Now it’s just a matter of whether Austin, Buzzy, or Colby will join them.
  • Team Julia earns $50,000 (split amongst the three players) for their sixth place finish.
  • Team Austin was very happy not to finish sixth. As one of the people that he called out back in September after the draft, I’m happy for them.
  • Ken’s combined stats over the two rounds he played: $28,400 Coryat, 31 correct, 2 incorrect, 50.88% in first on buzzer. Moreover, holding someone who won 20 games to 2 responses in a Double Jeopardy! round is no mean feat.
  • Props to Team Julia for finishing out the best they could.
