Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Fictional Characters) for Friday, December 27, 2024 (Season 41, Game 80):
In his very first appearance by name, this character comes downstairs “bump-bump-bump on the back of his head”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Herb Jeong, a retired pension administrator from San Francisco, California
Megan Riddell, a human resources data analyst from Linthicum, Maryland
Laura Faddah, a manager from Memphis, Tennessee (6-day total: $79,400)
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Today is Game #7 for Laura Faddah, who has picked up nearly $80,000 over her first six victories, including one by runaway in yesterday’s matchup. Hoping to end her win streak at six, though, are Maryland’s Megan Riddell and San Francisco’s Herb Jeong.
Whoever wins today’s game will need to step aside for a couple of months, though, as next Monday begins what has quickly become my favorite part of the Jeopardy! calendar—the postseason! Things kick off on Monday with two weeks of Second Chance, followed by an abbreviated Champions Wildcard event and the Tournament of Champions beginning January 27. With a Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament giving us a spot in the next Jeopardy! Masters as well, our champion today returns in early March. I personally can not wait to see what is in store over the next two months!

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2024 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
“Here is Edward Bear, coming down the stairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it. And then he feels that perhaps there isn’t. Anyhow, here he is at the bottom, and ready to be introduced to you. Winnie-the-Pooh.” So goes the opening paragraph of A. A. Milne’s much-beloved Winnie The Pooh.
And yes, Edward Bear—Winnie’s proper name—gave the Canadian pop group of the early 1970s their name. (Older viewers on both sides of the border would likely be familiar with their hit “Last Song”).

Game Recap & Tonight’s Game Stats:
Looking to find out who won Jeopardy! today? Here’s the Friday, December 27, 2024 Jeopardy! by the numbers, along with a recap:
Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: Starts & Ends With “O”; Hodgepodge; Cups & Glasses; F. Scott Fitzgerald; The Last Tycoon; This Side Of Parodies)
All three players got in on the signalling device early, but it was Megan who edged into the lead after 15 clues. At the interviews, the scores were Megan $1,800 Laura $1,600 Herb $1,000.
Statistics at the first break (15 clues):
Megan 3 correct 0 incorrect
Laura 5 correct 1 incorrect
Herb 3 correct 1 incorrect
Today’s interviews:
Herb has an ancestor who claimed to be the son of someone else in 1906.
Megan played HQ Trivia as she went into labor with her second child. (She didn’t win that night.)
Laura has traveled to many locations in Europe and South America; she’d like to go back to Chile and Valencia.
Megan found the Daily Double, but an incorrect response on it gave Laura the lead after 30 clues.
Statistics after the Jeopardy round:
Laura 8 correct 1 incorrect
Megan 8 correct 2 incorrect
Herb 4 correct 2 incorrect
Scores after the Jeopardy! Round:
Laura $3,400
Megan $1,800
Herb $400
Double Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: Shopping For Souvenirs; Science; Minor League Baseball Team Geography; The “D.C.” Universe; The Dreaded Lesser-Known Opera Category; Double Double Letters)
Both Daily Doubles fell for incorrect responses in this round; things were looking like we were going to have three players in four figures going into Final, but a strong performance in the baseball geography category by Laura meant she had $10,000 and a runaway going into Final.
Statistics after Double Jeopardy:
Laura 18 correct 5 incorrect
Herb 9 correct 3 incorrect
Megan 10 correct 4 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 26 (3 today).
Scores going into Final:
Laura $10,000
Herb $3,200
Megan $1,400
Herb crossed out the correct response, but Megan didn’t. Laura’s runaway, though, makes her a 7-day champ; she’ll be back in early March to try to make it eight!
Tonight’s results:
Megan $1,400 + $52 = $1,452 (Who is Winnie the Pooh?)
Herb $3,200 + $0 = $3,200 (Who is Winnie T The Velveteen Rabbit?)
Laura $10,000 – $2,000 = $8,000 (Who is ?) (7-day total: $87,400)
