Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category World Geography) for Friday, July 1, 2022 (Season 38, Game 210):

Mont Bellevue de l’Inini is the highest point in this European possession largely covered by the Amazon rainforest

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Shayan Sadegh, a medical scribe from Potomac, Maryland

Shayan Sadegh on Jeopardy!

Eleanor Dixon, a freelance technical editor from Vero Beach, Florida

Eleanor Dixon on Jeopardy!

Dave Bzdak, a philosophy professor from Syracuse, New York (1-day total: $2,000)

Dave Bzdak on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Triple Stumpers in Final Jeopardy! have certainly kept the winnings down this week; yesterday’s winner Dave Bzdak won yesterday with just $2,000! But the more important thing is that the champion gets the opportunity to come back tomorrow to try to win more money; Dave will try to do that against Eleanor Dixon and Shayan Sadegh!

On a more personal note: For the past two and a half years, I have often raised money for the MS Society of Canada through their “Gamers vs. MS” program. This July, Gamers vs. MS is running a month-long fundraising campaign called “Boss Battles.” In an attempt to raise $25,000, the Gamers vs. MS team has designed a “fundraising adventure” to defeat eight evil bosses. (Much like a Mario game might have eight bosses to defeat.) You can get more information about the program at https://www.gamersvsms.ca/bossbattles.

Also, a heads-up to those who watch the show on WXPI in Pittsburgh: Starting Monday, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are switching time slots; Jeopardy! will be airing in Pittsburgh at 7:30, while Wheel of Fortune moves to 7:00.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

More Information About Final Jeopardy:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2022 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

French Guiana is an overseas department of France located in South America, bordering Suriname and Brazil; the Guiana Space Centre is located there, which is the European Space Agency’s primary equatorial launch site. It is the only one of the five original Guyanas—French, Spanish (now part of Venezuela), Dutch (now Suriname), British (now Guyana), and Portuguese (now part of Brazil)—to still be held by its colonizing country.

Game Recap:

Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: On A Holiday; U.S. Cities; Animals & The Law; Fruits & Vegetables in French; Game Plan; “X”s & “O”s)

Eleanor had the best time over the first 15 clues, picking up 6 correct responses; Dave had 2 incorrect, including the Daily Double, to set himself back. Coming out of the break, Eleanor had a couple of incorrect responses herself to keep her score down, but she did keep the lead.

Double Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: One-Word Nonfiction Titles; Filmed in Georgia; It’s a Process; 20th Century Names; A Disaster of Biblical Proportions; Italian Loanwords)

Dave found the second Daily Double, and unfortunately missed his second wagering clue of the day. Then, Shayan went on a run of his own, jumping out into a lead! Eleanor then found Daily Double #3 and wagered the unusual amount of $2,018. She then got clue #30 for $2,000 to propel her into the lead going into Final! Scores going into Final were Eleanor at $12,218, Shayan at $10,400, and Dave at $6,600.

For the first time in a very long time, three players got Final Jeopardy! correct. Eleanor bet to cover and will return Monday as champion!
