Murder at Full Moon is a werewolf murder mystery written in 1930 by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, a year after his first novel, Cup of Gold, was published; however, it was never published, as Steinbeck didn’t consider the work fit for publication.

I think the best way of coming up with the correct response to this Final clue would be to think of the author of that era most likely to have set works in central California; Steinbeck himself was born in Salinas, in central California’s Monterey County.
