Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: I’m very interested in seeing what happens today, especially after Matt gave himself a bit of a scare yesterday after missing the first Daily Double. Being that this show was taped just 15 minutes after yesterday’s, there may still be a knock-on effect. Moreover, Matt’s statistics on Fridays—while still incredibly strong compared to the average player—drop off a bit compared to the rest of the week. Last night, I ran my prediction model on just Matt’s Friday performances to date, and it put him only around 86% to win a Friday game, compared to the 92% he is to win the rest of the week. There are quite a few people who would love to see Matt come back on Monday to make it to his 6th different host.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

In the 1830s, the Whig Party was formed in the United States as a loose coalition of those who were deeply opposed to President Andrew Jackson, who they viewed as someone who ruled with the executive tyranny of a king, especially when it came to Jackson’s shuttering of the national banks with the most notable Whig being Henry Clay (even though Clay never ascended to the Presidency). The party didn’t last particularly long, as the end of the Jackson presidency caused the party to faction. However, the party did win the 1840 (William Henry Harrison) and the 1848 (Zachary Taylor) elections.

Andy’s Thoughts:
On BROADWAY ON THE POP CHARTS $1600, even the show’s website itself says “Contestants may change their responses as long as neither the host nor the judges have made a ruling.” Matt being permitted to change his response from “Hard Knocks Life” to “Hard Knock Life” is perfectly within the rules as Mike and the judges had yet to rule on the response.
